Job Title: Nurse Navigator
Oncology Nurse Navigator/RN Oncology - oncology experience as a navigator or an infusion nurse required

This position is full-time 40 hours per week. Weekday shifts, with no weekends, nights, or on-call requirements

Qualifications
BSN Required
BLS certification required
Two years of nursing experience in an oncology setting, preferred but willing to train
ONS Chemotherapy / Biotherapy Certified preferred, or obtained within 2 years of hire
ONC certification preferred or obtained within 2 years of hire

  • The Medical Oncology Nurse Navigator is a professional registered nurse with oncology-specific clinical knowledge who offers individualized assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers. Utilizing the nursing process, the Medical Oncology Nurse Navigator provides education and resources to facilitate informed decision making and timely access to quality health and psychosocial care throughout all phases of the cancer continuum.

  • Working within the Hematology/Oncology Outpatient Practice setting the Oncology Nurse Navigator provides patient-centered care to patients of all cancer types and benign blood disorders. The Oncology Nurse Navigator works as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team of professionals that includes, but is not limited to; MDs, NPs, RNs, Medical Assistants, Pharmacists, and Social Workers.

  • The Oncology Nurse Navigator functions as an integral member to the team helping ensure patients receive quality and compassionate care. Skills such as clinical decision making, critical thinking, effective communication, and nursing assessment and symptom management specific to the oncology nurse are necessary for this role.

  • Is responsible for coordinating care for patients for a defined population (for example patients receiving oral chemotherapy), including the evaluation, assessment, scheduling, consultation and treatment of patients in order to implement a seamless progression of care to meet the patients needs
  • \t
  • Provides a welcoming, helpful approach to new MAH patients, promotes positive, professional image
  • \t
  • Provide patient/family education regarding chemotherapy/immunotherapy
  • \t
  • Coordinate care for patients preparing to start treatment including pre-tx staging, labs, other testing and venous access placement
  • \t
  • Collaborate with colleagues within MAH in the care of the medical oncology patients
  • \t
  • Support Hematology/Oncology physicians and nurse practitioners with telephone triage, medication Rx renewals and outside lab ordering. In addition, collaborates with physicians and other health care providers to coordinate the care for patients from referral/consultation to discharge /follow up.

Cannot have worked perm/travel for any Beth Israel facility within the past 6 months
