Database Architect

Optomi, in partnership with a leading logistics client, is seeking a Database Architect to join their growing team. This role requires a highly skilled individual with a deep understanding of database architecture, stored procedures, and automation in SQL Server environments. The right candidate will play a critical role in designing, optimizing, and securing database systems to ensure high performance and scalability.

Experience of the right candidate:

• Proven experience as a Database Architect, Data Architect, or similar role with a focus on relational databases.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, including SSIS, T-SQL, and SQL Server.
• Experience implementing CI/CD practices for database changes, including version control and automated testing.
• Deep understanding of database design principles, data modeling, and normalization techniques.
• Knowledge of Azure cloud hosting and monitoring best practices for databases.
• Experience with performance tuning and query optimization for high-traffic environments.
• Familiarity with database security best practices and compliance regulations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to evolving business needs.
• Background in the Airlines or Hospitality industry is a plus.

Responsibilities of the right candidate:

• Design and implement efficient database architectures aligned with business requirements.
• Analyze and document existing database schemas, including tables, relationships, stored procedures, and data types.
• Develop and maintain stored procedures, triggers, and functions for optimal database performance.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate SQL deployments and ensure consistency across environments.
• Collaborate with application developers to create high-performance database solutions.
• Perform database modeling, data mapping, and migration tasks.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary optimizations.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards.
• Stay up to date with emerging database technologies and best practices to inform strategic decisions.
