The Oncology Nurse Navigator is a registered nurse specializing in oncology who provides individualized support to patients, families, and caregivers navigating the healthcare system. This role involves patient education, resource coordination, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure timely access to quality care throughout the cancer continuum. The navigator works in an outpatient hematology/oncology practice, supporting patients with various cancer types and benign blood disorders.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinating care for a defined patient population (e.g., those receiving oral chemotherapy), including assessment, scheduling, consultations, and treatment planning.
- Providing a welcoming and helpful approach to new patients, fostering a positive image of the practice.
- Educating patients and families about chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments.
- Coordinating care for patients preparing for treatment (pre-treatment staging, labs, testing, venous access placement).
- Collaborating with colleagues to provide comprehensive medical oncology care.
- Supporting physicians and nurse practitioners with telephone triage, medication renewals, and lab ordering.
- Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care from referral to discharge/follow-up.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Two years of oncology nursing experience (preferred, but willing to train).
- COVID-19 vaccination and booster (declination not accepted).
- Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) Coversheet.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Oncology Nursing Certification (ONC) (obtainable within 2 years of hire).
- Oncology Nurses Society (ONS) Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification (obtainable within 2 years of hire).
Special Considerations:
- Full-time position (40 hours per week).
- Weekday shifts only; no weekends, nights, or on-call requirements.
