Job Details Job Location: 1875 BROADWAY - BROOKLYN, NY Position Type: Full Time Education Level: High School Salary Range: $42,000.00 - $49,000.00 per year Job Shift: Day Shift Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Intake Specialist is the first point of contact responsible for welcoming clients into the RiseBoro Homebase Homelessness Prevention Program in NYC. The program is a community-based initiative that assists households at risk of shelter entry to resolve their housing crisis and lay the groundwork for self-sufficiency. The Intake Specialist will represent RiseBoro in the community and interact with prospective clients, service providers, funding agencies, and community stakeholders. Specific duties include: Coordinate the intake process, review eligibility documentation, schedule appointments, make referrals, and provide information on community resources. Screen and assess individuals for program eligibility and determine next steps. Review eligibility documentation to ensure compliance with contractual guidelines. Coordinate with the supervisor to schedule new client intake. Ensure all client resources are up-to-date and available at the reception area. Perform outreach activities to publicize program offerings and communicate service availability. Receive and sort mail deliveries. Maintain an organized, safe, and presentable reception area. Perform administrative tasks accurately, including data entry, filing, copying, and faxing. Maintain daily logs of client and staff signatures, ensuring completion. Assist in preparing letters and documents for outreach activities. Perform other duties as assigned. COMPETENCIES Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Knowledge of NYC public benefits system, HRA, and DHS preferred. High level of professionalism and strong presentation skills. Proficient in scheduling software such as Appointments Plus. Experience in non-profit organizations preferred. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to multi-task, follow up, and produce quality work on time. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Self-starter with a positive attitude. Ability to work with diverse populations and foster team spirit. Flexible and adaptable. Commitment to RiseBoro’s mission, vision, and values. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and client databases preferred. Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality. Understanding of institutional and structural racism and bias impacts. Commitment to supporting marginalized communities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or equivalent (HSE/GED) required.
