Position Summary Brock is accepting applications for a pool of Industrial Blasters and Painters for both
shop-based and field-based positions . Successful candidates may be assigned to our
Nisku Paint and Blast Shop or deployed to various
field projects as required. These roles involve preparing and applying industrial coatings in controlled shop settings and active field environments. Previous experience with abrasive blasting and industrial-grade coatings for steel and related substrates is required.
Key Responsibilities In this role, your responsibilities will include: - Surface Preparation : Operate hand tools and abrasive blast equipment to prepare surfaces for coating, including scraping, sanding, and sand-blasting.
- Repairing Surfaces: Fill cracks and holes with suitable filler materials to ensure a smooth surface prior to coating.
- Applying Coatings: Apply various coating systems—including inorganic/organic zincs, epoxies, and urethanes—to structural steel, piping, tanks, and vessels.
- Following Specifications : Ensure all work is completed according to contractor specifications, shop standards, and safety protocols.
- Equipment Maintenance: Prepare, inspect, operate, and maintain blasting and coating equipment to ensure safe and effective performance.
- Safety Procedures: Adhere to all shop and regulatory safety standards (e.g., OSHA, provincial guidelines).
- Project Requirements: Read and interpret job specifications, shop work orders, and related documentation.
- Additional Duties: Take on other tasks as needed to support production and team operations.
Minimum Requirements - Previous industrial blasting and painting experience is required .
- CSTS 2020 and WHMIS certification required .
- Comfortable working night shifts in a shop environment.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual labor (lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
- NACE/AMPP certification is an asset but not required.

- Construction Knowledge : Understanding of materials, tools, and processes involved in industrial surface prep and coatings.
- Compliance Evaluation : Ability to assess work against safety and compliance standards.

- Equipment Inspection : Capability to regularly inspect tools and equipment for defects or wear.
- Process Monitoring : Awareness of coating and blasting processes to detect irregularities early.
- Problem Solving : Ability to analyze issues and find effective, safe solutions on the job.
- Identifying Changes : Keen eye for detail and the ability to spot differences, flaws, or changes in job site or material conditions.
Working Conditions Shifts: Positions available on day, evening, and night shifts.
Locations: Work may be based at the Nisku Paint and Blast Shop or at field sites on various projects [travel to field locations may be required].
Environment: Exposure to dust, coatings, noise, and vibration in both shop and field settings; all required PPE is provided.
Pre-access Drug & Alcohol testing is mandatory.
