Automation & Controls Specialist

Location: Wausau, WI

Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire

PTS Advance is hiring on behalf of a well-established and growing industrial automation company looking for a Automation & Controls Specialist to join their team in Central Wisconsin.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Design automation systems using drives, PLCs, and IEDs.
  • Service, commission, and test drives and control equipment.
  • Troubleshoot control circuits and low-voltage communication/protection systems.
  • Conduct wiring checks and support installation.
  • Create project documentation and provide training to customers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure timely and quality project delivery.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Power or 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience.
  • Ability to read prints and electrical/control schematics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in electrical panels, industrial controls, or automation.
  • Strong knowledge of VFD's (Variable Frequency Drives)
  • Mechanical, electrical, or software aptitude.
  • Previous work in field service or installation roles.
